Etymology of Eriospermum:
Gk. erion = wool; sperma = seed. The seed is covered with white hairs.
Etymology of fleckii:
Named after Dr Eduard Fleck, a geologist sent out to Namibia around 1890 by the Deutsche Kolonialgesellschaft in 1888
